KuGi Waterproof Fitness Tracker

KuGi Waterproof Fitness Tracker

The KuGi Waterproof Fitness Tracker is pretty much a Chinese clone of the Fitbit Charge 2 and even includes the heart rate tracker. Now this watch is only $40 compared to the Fitbit that is $150, so if you are looking for similar specs but you can’t afford $150 for a watch I would say the KuGi is actually a decent alternative.

KuGi states on Amazon that it is suitable for swimming, however, in our testing we noticed that water would trigger the touch actions so I wouldn’t suggest using it swimming but would be okay for showering or light water activity. In conclusion, water wont necessarily kill it but I wouldn’t buy it specifically for its waterproof capabilities.

The App was actually better than I had expected. The main screen is very visually appealing compared to some of the smart watch apps I have seen out there. It connects to your GPS so you can track your route. Tracks your distance, calories, goal percentage, sleep quality, and even lets you share your stats on social media. You can have your notifications apply to the watch which allows you to determine importance of a message. This last feature is one of the most important to me and I was happy with that. One con of the app is you are unable to sync to Google Fit and there is no competition aspect built in which was fairly disappointing.
The watch functionality is pretty good. It is easy to swipe between screens, however, we did find that it was easy to accidentally reset the watch and lose all your stats. Now the steps are not that accurate but it still works well for getting you more active, it is just something you must consider when setting your goal. The same applies to the heart rate monitor, this is not designed to be a life saving device but more of a mile marker.

Overall I feel this is a decent buy. I would say this is a perfect alternative to the Fitbit at a 3rd of the price. Yes, it is not perfect, most watches aren’t, but for the price it does what it is designed to do and more. In respect to the quality, it felt nice and strong. The charger was a little awkward to use though. We did not test this long enough to determine how long it would last but we had tested over a month without any troubles. Would I recommend this? Yes, I would to someone who is looking to have an activity tracker to help get them more active and out of their chair every once in a while. However, if you plan to compete with friends, this might not work for you.
